SOUTH SURREY YOUTH LEAGUE CUP FINAL U18'S
BROCKHAM BADGERS 2 - 5 NORK PARK RANGERS
NPR FC Saturday U18s were trying to retain the cup that they brought home on exactly the same day 1 year ago, but this time they faced tough opponents who had derailed there league hopes back in February when they came back from 2-0 down to beat NPR 3-2! However, roles were reversed this time when Brockham Badgers stormed in to a 2-0 lead with two break away goals that left Nork reeling. Goalkeeper Zach Emberson then pulled of an incredible save as he finger tipped over what looked like a certain goal to keep Nork in the game. Nork did respond quickly by hitting the woodwork twice before being handed a penalty as a result of a Brockham player handling the ball.
Luke Evans stepped up and slid the ball home to make it 2-1. This goal brought belief back to the Nork team and almost instantly from the restart Nork turned the ball over and Top scorer Will Block popped up at the back post to equalise just before half-time.
Nork began the second half postively dominating possession and using the squad to full effect, with the introduction of Jack Schofield who's crossing from wide areas was causing mayhem in the Brockham's Goal area. It was again, Schofield that rattled the crossbar in the 53rd minute with a well struck cross come shot.
Jack Schofield was again involved when in the 63rd minute when he crossed the ball that was brilliantly controlled by Josh Edwards just inside the Brockham 6 yard box, he composed himself before brilliantly smashing the ball past the Brockham keeper.
Nork Park Rangers managed the game well and soon had another opportunity when Edwards got his brace when he stabbed home from close range. It was all Nork now as Brockham tired and Edwards rounded of the perfect day with a hat-trick when he dropped his shoulder just outside the Brockham box before curling the ball into the bottom corner to finish off any hope Brockham had of a come back.
A fantastic way to finish off a season that will be the last game for this U18 team.
It was enjoyed by all players coaches and parents.
Many of the team are off to University or apprenticeships and we wish them all the best of luck in their next chapter of their lives! However, we still have the club tour to Marbella to look forward to 😜!! Up the Moles!!
