CLUB STATEMENT UPDATED 4th June 2020

On Monday 16th March the FA suspended all grassroots football in line with government guidance, and since then the club has been waiting for an update on when we could return to some kind of football activity. On the 1st June we received confirmation that the government was relaxing some of the COVID-19 restrictions and that the following outdoor football activity is now permitted:

• playing football individually. For example, practice of individual skills or fitness activities;
• playing football with your family or other people living in your household;
• football training or fitness activities in groups of no more than six, keeping two metres apart at all times.

With this in mind we’re pleased to announce that we will soon be resuming club training however, as you will hopefully understand, there will be considerable changes to the format of training to ensure we comply with the new rules.Your team manager will be in touch to advise of specific plans for your team.

Planning for the new season

At present there is no clear view on when the new season will begin however to ensure that we’re ready as soon as we have the green light the club has decided to start planning on the basis that the season will start in Sept as usual.  As you can imagine there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to prepare for a new season so starting our preparation now will give us the maximum time to get organised.  This will include:

  • starting to ask players/parents to register so that we can confirm which teams we’ll be running

  • organising any new player recruitment that will be needed

  • signing teams up with the league

  • confirming our pitch leases with the council

  • booking our winter training facilities

  • organising and ordering any equipment and kits that will be needed

Your help

We appreciate this is a very unusual time but we’re asking for support from all our members, particularly in terms of re-registering as soon as possible, so we have enough time to properly prepare for the new season.  For anyone that isn’t aware we’re currently offering a discounted membership fee for the season and you can take advantage of this by going to the club website and using the ‘Membership Forms 20-21’ link at the top of the page (password = npr2021).

Finally, we would like to take a moment as a club to send our thoughts and best wishes to any of you that have been personally affected by the tragic circumstances of the past few months.  Football, quite rightly, needed to pause whilst the country dealt with the pandemic but hopefully the prospect of a new season starting will help to restore some feeling of normality and give all of us something to look forward to.
